Supported Data Formats

DXC supports various data sharing protocols such as file sharing, API transactions and IoT Sensor streams.

Exchange of all sort of files (e.g., PDF, DB, SQL, CSV, RAR, ZIP, TAR, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, MP4, AVI, MPEG, and so on) are well supported by DataBroker File sharing can happen over HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/SFTP or via Local file mapping. Local file method is ideal for creating a disjointed data sharing infrastructure in your IT environment where a particular machine can be disconnected from the rest of your IT network and can host the data files to be shared for monetization on DataBroker. It is also useful for mapping any local database or csv files being generated on an IoT sensor or PLC device. DXC also provides a web based file browser for easy local file management and mapping.

Supported Data Formats

We also support MQTT based data sharing. MQTT stands for MQ Telemetry Transport and is an OASIS standard messaging protocol for the Internet of Things (IoT). It is the most commonly used messaging protocol for the Internet of Things (IoT). The protocol is a set of rules that defines how IoT devices can publish and subscribe to data over the Internet. MQTT is used for messaging and data exchange between IoT and industrial IoT (IIoT) devices, such as embedded devices, sensors, industrial PLCs, etc. The protocol is event driven and connects devices using the publish /subscribe (Pub/Sub) pattern. The sender (Publisher) and the receiver (Subscriber) communicate via Topics and are decoupled from each other. The connection between them is handled by the MQTT broker. The MQTT broker filters all incoming messages and distributes them correctly to the Subscribers. Any MQTT broker can be mapped within the DataBroker DXC to allow the data consumer to connect to a particular channel of an MQTT broker for a particular duration as defined in the data purchase deal.

Similarly, in the case of API based data sharing, various parameters and values can be added to the API call structure. Various authentication methods are also supported and our product team is always open for customizations and modifications to accommodate for specific requests. At the time of purchase, the user gets API connection URL and API key required for receiving data from the purchased API stream or gateway.

For each Data Product displayed on the platform you will see:

  • Data format: API, Stream or File
  • The period for which you will get access to the data
  • The price for that access period
