ACCESSING DATA

  • How is data transferred from the data provider to the buyer?

Data from a data product that is sold or shared is not stored on the Databroker platform; instead, it is safely and securely transferred directly from the data provider to the buyer.

This is made possible thanks to a small piece of software, known as a Data eXchange Controller (DXC), which is installed and maintained by the seller.

The DXC acts like a proxy server, opening a secured connection with – and only with – the data sold or shared, thanks to the use of unique data product IDs.
  • How do I access a data file?

Once the data product purchase is complete, you receive an email confirmation containing a link (URL). You can also find this link in the My purchases section of your account.

By clicking the link, you get immediate and temporary access to the file stored by the data provider.

At the end of the data access period, the link automatically expires, and the data is no longer accessible. To access the data again, you need to re-purchase the data product, at which point a new link is created.

  • How do I access an API flow?

Once the data product purchase is complete, you receive an email confirmation with further instructions for accessing the API. You can also find this information in the My purchases section of your account.

The instructions provide the IP address of the API server and a temporary API authentication key (JToken).

At the end of the data access period, the API authentication key automatically expires, and the API is no longer accessible. To access the API again, you need to re-purchase the data product, at which point a new API authentication key is created.

  • How do I access a data stream?

Once the data product purchase is complete, you will receive an email asking you to provide the IP address and port number of your server. You will also see this in the My purchases section of your account.

Once you have provided the requested information, the Data eXchange Controller (DXC) automatically sends the data streams to your server during the data access period.

At the end of the data access period, the DXC automatically stops sending the data stream. To access the data stream again, you need to re-purchase the data product, and then provide the IP address and port number of your server for the new purchase.

  • How long do I have access to the data?

This depends on the individual data product, and is clearly stated in the product description.

    This information is also provided:

in the purchase confirmation email you receive; and

per data product, in the My purchases section of your account.

  • What happens when the access period ends?

We inform you via email when the access period for a data product expires.

To access the data again, you need to return to the data product (a link is provided in the email) and purchase it again.
